A message from Our Chair of Governors

Hello Everyone.

Please let me introduce myself. My name is Hazel Callaghan and I am delighted to have been appointed as the Chair of Elmhurst Junior Governing Body. I am fairly new as a governor at Elmhurst but have spent all of my adult life working in education as a primary school teacher, headteacher, inspector and school improvement partner. I am retired now but still get great enjoyment in working with pupils, teachers, parents and carers and I am excited to be working with you all in making the school the very best it can be. Elmhurst Junior has so many strengths and I look forward to seeing it move from strength to strength enabling the children to find success and to thrive.

Many of you will have known Andy Shepherd and Claire Axten who were the previous chairs of Governors and know what a fantastic job they did in supporting the school and working with Tracey and Mike to do the very best for Elmhust pupils and their families. I will try very hard to continue their good work.

This is an exciting time for the school. Our new headteacher brings new expertise to the leadership and I believe the school will move forward building on all the strengths of the past and develop into a rich learning community where pupils and staff achieve their potential.

I want to thank Ms Airey for enabling me to send this message to you and I look forward to meeting many of you over the weeks and months ahead.
I hope you all a very happy half term break.

Best wishes

Hazel Callaghan

Many thanks

Hazel
