Update on Hampers and Vouchers

Dear Parent/Carer,

This is to let you know that if you have been receiving a weekly food hamper this will continue over the summer holiday during July and August. It is planned that the hampers will stop in September.

The hampers have been a collaboration between schools, BAM, who supply the school meals, charities, the Parish Council, and staff and families from Millfield School. It has been amazing what has been achieved collectively and there have been a huge number of people from all of these establishments working extremely hard in the background to make it successful.  As a school we would like to thank all of those involved for all of their hard work and dedication, it has been truly fantastic.

Over the coming weeks and through July the hamper service will continue and there will be no changes.  It is planned to alter the provision in August. This is to help to plan for September when the hampers will no longer be provided. The aim is to increase store cupboard ingredients over this period, to help stock cupboards and reduce costs over September, October, and onwards. During the first two weeks of August the hampers will include fresh fruit and vegetables & store cupboard ingredients and during the second half just store cupboard ingredients only.  There will also be a booklet with all the meal plans and recipes that have been provided with the hampers.

In addition to this, if you qualify for free school meals, you will also receive an e-voucher which is government-funded and will equate to £15 per week. The voucher will be for the total of the six weeks holiday. Instructions on which items the voucher is valid for and how to redeem it will follow when they have been allocated.

If you have any questions or do not wish to receive any more hampers please email office@elmhurst.somerset.sch.uk

If you feel you qualify for free school meals and you are not currently receiving them please click here. Even if you don’t wish to take up the meals the school receives a financial benefit that goes towards supporting the children.
