Dear Parents,
It was lovely to see all the children back at school on Wednesday. I must admit some of them were still getting used to the earlier start on Thursday but by Friday I think we were all back into the swing of things.
I haven’t got my usual newsletter ready as it was such a short week but we did manage to take 2 teams over to Millfield Prep for a football match.
“We played Millfield Prep School after school on Thursday 6th January. We took A and B teams comprising of a mixture of girls and boys from year 6. We played 9 a side. Millfield we’re very strong and ended up winning both games but Elmhurst played very well and with great team spirit especially due to the rain and cold weather.
We would also like to mention Rex Bickham, Freddie Punchard and Zane Hall who all represented Mendip at the Somerset School’s Cross Country Competition in Taunton over the holidays. The boys ran extremely well. Mrs Rousell“
I will continue to put the weekly newsletter onto the website and a link on the Whole School Dojo page and Facebook. The newsletter is based upon our Friday celebration assembly where we all (virtually for the moment) come together to look at all the hard work the children have undertaken over the week.
I will be delivering the NSPCC Speak out: Stay Safe school assembly in the coming weeks. This used to be carried out by visitors to school but now we deliver it ourselves. I have added a link to the NSPCC parent and child assembly so you can get an idea of the themes that will be covered here at school.
I will be adding an events/ dates section to the newsletter so that we can keep you updated on future events. I can’t wait for the time when we can get back to normal and have parents’ coffee mornings and visits into the classrooms so that you can see the pupils work in person.
Can I just take this chance to remind you that all absences must be reported to the school office, either by phone or email and not on Class Dojo as teachers do not always have the capacity to check messages during the day.
Best Wishes
Miss Airey
